Two things about me: I can turn anything into a business, and I pour my whole heart into everything I do. But being fully transparent, J’s Cookin didn’t start because of my hustling mentality or because I knew that creating a food business would make me successful. It started because I gave God my “yes.”

Back in 2022, I traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma for my first church conference. The first two days were powerful worship sessions, and it was incredible seeing people my age pursuing God with everything they had. But by the third day, I was confused. I’d expected to hear from God or see him move in my life. I wasn’t expecting just a cool gospel concert. That night I asked God, “Why did I feel this pull to attend the conference if you weren’t going to reveal something to me?” While I was heading home, God put it on my heart to start a cooking business. At the time, my “specialty” was chicken, rice and some basic pasta dishes I pulled off of pinterest. Needless to say, I was scared, unprepared, and honestly unsure how it would all work.

But I said yes anyway.

Since that day, God has opened doors only he could open, given me strength, energy, consistency, creativity, and opportunities I never could’ve imagined or created on my own. What began as a step of faith has grown into a business that feeds people not just with food, but with a sense of home, joy, and connection.
